After years of successfull implementation of the Cuban model by Dutch Nurses Organisation Buurtzorg, millions of euros have been released by healthinsurance companies and others to establish “Neighbourhood as Ecosystem” a Dutch Collective Health Prevention Program www.debuurtalsecosysteem.nl
From their working visits in Cuban Healthcare, pioneers and district nurses, Hanneke and Trudy (foto) nicknamed: “the Havana Club”, as well as many hundreds of other healthcare colleagues, brought the basic ideas for this program along from Cuba: prevention = pleasure, simplicity, local residentgroup in the lead, nurses and GP’s as starters and boosters. It resulted in numerous initiatives: elderly-circles, Childerns christmas cards for locals, a mosaic community bank designed and made by neighborhood people, walking- and healthy cooking clubs a.o. Now, Cuban example will be implemented throughout Holland. Aim for 2029: 1000 neighborhoods!
